Kailua

Hiatt Hale is located in the picturesque windward town of Kailua, Hawaii on the island of Oahu, approximately 30 minutes by car from Honolulu International Airport. Kailua is sometimes called the "Quiet Side" — you'll feel a world away from bustling Waikiki, yet close enough to enjoy what it and the rest of what Oahu has to offer.

Kailua's spectacular white sand beaches, friendly and relaxed town, and breathtaking views of the Ko'olau Mountains ensure a dreamy, unforgettable vacation. There are wonderful small restaurants, shopping, and even bean-to-bar chocolate stores.

In order to fully embrace our island, we recommend you pick up a rental car at the airport. You'll be able to make the short drive to Kailua with ease, then you can explore all of what Kailua and Oahu have to offer at your leisure. We have done all the hard work for you by highlighting fantastic activities and places for you to visit that we believe capture the spirit of the islands.

To reach Kailua follow signs from Honolulu International Airport to H3. Take the Mokapu Saddle Road exit and turn right off the ramp. You will turn right onto Kalaheo Avenue where you will be within blocks of our property. Guests will receive detailed driving directions prior to arrival.

You will enjoy free Internet access, coffee and pastries at Morning Brew as well as at Starbuck's, Teddy's Bigger Burgers, and Maui Tacos located across the street in the Kailua Village Shops complex. Nearby, you will find Longs Drugs and Whole Foods.   You will see locals frequenting charming Kalapawai Market for coffee, sandwiches and various sundries on their way to Kailua Beach Park or Lanikai Beach. Both have been called two of the top ten beaches in the world. Kalapawai Market also has an impressive selection of wine--perhaps something to think about as you head back to our vacation rentals after a long wonderful day at the beach. In town there is the Kalapawai Café which serves delicious dinners.   One of the popular dinner spots in Kailua is Buzz's Steakhouse which is known for its refreshing island beverages and pupus (appetizers) as well as great steak and fish entrees.  Buzz's is popular with both locals and tourists, so make a reservation. Take time to stroll on moonlit Kailua Beach (across the street from Buzz's) while you are waiting for your table or before you head home.   We can't think of a better way to end an evening.
